The organising of an event can be one of the most stressful times in a business or a private setting. The fear of failing to deliver tends to give the organisers sleepless nights. Elaine has been managing and delivering projects, sometimes multiple projects for over 20 years. She has worked in very high-pressured environments and has never failed to deliver successfully for her clients. Her attention to detail is well known. For her clients she had had to, as part of the service, build lasting relationships with reputable suppliers, get the best for her clients in terms of costs, products and services. Sourcing and commercial services covers a wide spectrum of areas and requires the individual to have exceptional organisational, managerial, financial and negotiation skills. Event managing was an element of the services that she delivered under the umbrella of Commercial Services. Her client sectors included Financial Services organisations, Media, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Defence, Utilities and Central Government departments.
Example role: Elaine was heavily involved in the organisation of the annual global KPMG outsourcing conference. In fact, she in the latter years became one of the key individuals to organise the event itself – bringing together up to 19 heads of the different countries involved. It was an exciting and adrenaline rushed time and she and the team were always congratulated on the success of the conferences.
